The Webinar focuses on the CERA Performance Standard (CPS) and its structure, systematic and requirements.
The CERA system consists of four sub-standards. The CERA Performance Standard (CPS), focuses on the responsible performance of the mine or the subsequent process, the CCS, which covers the tracking of responsible extracted material throughout the entire value chain, the CRS, which tackles the (pre-)investment phase prior the operation, and the CFS, that focuses on the downstream value chain.

The CPS certifies a facility or sequence of operations in the upstream value chain from mine to refiner or smelter. It defines a set of criteria, which every operation in the upstream supply chain have to fulfil. These criteria are linked to social and environmental responsibility as well as corporate governance that are all together define the sustainability in mineral raw material production.
The goal of CPS is to encompass all raw materials, all operation sizes, mining and processing techniques as well as all countries throughout the entire value chain. Therefore, CPS takes into account the specific conditions of raw materials or processes through the value chain by creating individual Implementation Details.
Beside this, the CPS follows a traditional but dynamic certification process, e.g. third party auditing as well as incremental criteria and improvement processes. Moreover, the CPS seeks to contribute to harmonization and mutual recognition within the certification landscape. This will be done by integrating our CAMD structure, recognizing already existing internal processes and set-ups during the audit process to reduce the effort for organizations as well as by developing an objective, standardized framework to harmonize with and recognize already existing certification standards as evidence for CPS requirements.
Finally, ASM is one big issue in the raw material sector and therefore for CERA and CPS as well. To include ASM within the scope of CPS, a different approach has been developed.
